I. EEFT Introduction
With the joint effort of the French Institute in Taipei / Centre de Cooperation et d’Action Culturelle, the DAAD Taipei, and the Netherlands Trade & Investment Office / Netherlands Education Support Office, the Taipei European Higher Education Fair Committee (EHEF Committee) was founded in 2002. The Committee has a non-profit objective and is solely devoted to the promotion of studying opportunities in European countries. It calls on European countries to work together to organize the fair in November every year in Taiwan. The British Council Taipei joined to the Committee from 2010. The “European Education Fair Taiwan” (EEFT) became the largest education fair in Taiwan. We will have our Fairs in Taipei and Kaohsiung in 2011.
II. EEFT Goals
The goals of the EEFT are to promote high-quality education in Europe as well as mutual trust and cooperation among European education institutions and schools. We dedicate our efforts to provide accurate information on education, visa, traveling and scholarship. By assuring the rich culture, abundant grants and quality of study in Europe for students and young professionals, we hope to create a positive image of the European education to encourage Taiwanese students to choose Europe as their educational destination.
III. Fair Information
This year, the 10th edition of the European Education Fair will take place in two cities in Taiwan. The fair will be in Taipei (October 22nd-23rd) at the Taipei Show Exhibition Hall Two, followed by Kaohsiung (October 25th) at the Grand Hilai Hotel.
In 2010, there were a total of 135 booths represented by European educational institutions from 13 European countries and the European Commission exhibited at the fair. The fair attracted over 24,000 of visitors during the two-day fair, making the EEFT Taipei the education fair with the highest visitor count in Taiwan. In Kaohsiung, we also created a 2,200 visitor count with 62 booths exhibited. This year, we expect to host at least 150 booths, and to attract more than 25,000 visitors in Taipei, and looking forward to host a 65 table booth fair with over 2,500 visitors in Kaohsiung.
In addition to the fair, EEFT Organizing Committee co-organizes the 3rd Taiwan-Europe Higher Education Conference (TEHEC) with the Foundation for International Cooperation in Higher Education of Taiwan (FICHET). The goal of this conference is to provide a platform to facilitate the exchange and partnership between European and Taiwanese institutions. The conference will include informative sessions and “match-making” workshop. The participation to this conference is FREE of charge for exhibitors (higher education institutions only) of the EEFT. The conference will take place in Taipei on Monday, October 24th. Further information and registration instruction will be available later.
