Paul-Valéry Montpellier 3 University, is part of an old and prestigious academic tradition as Montpellier School of Medicine, founded in 1289, was one of the first in Europe, and promotes its humanist values and the diversity of education in its core disciplines: Arts, Literature, Languages, and Social Sciences. Its campus (listed as «Architectural heritage of the 20th century » provides a pleasant and friendly environment for its 21 000 students, 18% being international students, and offers high-quality facilities for teaching, research and culture.
The university offers courses at undergraduate, master and doctoral levels, putting a strong emphasis on both the quality of teaching and the employability of students. With 19 research teams and 2 doctoral schools, the university has dynamic, high-standard research activities and attracts a high number of international PhD students. Many partnerships in Europe and in the world strengthen the international outreach of the university: students and staff exchanges, joint research projects as well as double diplomas and off-site campuses. With a cultural centre, a theatre, a museum of casts and a symphonic orchestra, the university is also a thriving cultural scene.
The city of Montpellier, cosmopolitan and open to the world, combines historical heritage and bold modernity. About 80 000 students live in Montpellier, enjoying its sunny Mediterranean environment, its vibrant city life, with many cultural activities (national literary, music and dance festivals) and a great variety of sporting events.
The region of Languedoc-Roussillon is one of the most beautiful areas in France with its diversity of landscapes ranging from the sandy beaches of the Mediterranean to the spectacular rocky ridges of the Cévennes and the Pyrénées. Languedoc-Roussillon is famous for its Mediterranean easy-going way of life combining culture, gastronomy, outdoor activities and historical heritage.
