L'École de design Nantes Atlantique is a private institution for higher education dedicated to design professions, in association with l’Université de Nantes. Founded in 1988 and recognized by the State, the school is a non-profit organization, and an active member of various academic networks and professional organizations: Conférence des Grandes Écoles (top-tier French higher education institutions), Campus France and got labelled "Bienvenue en France" by the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs.














L'École de design Nantes Atlantique offers several programs taught in English or in French.

Le Diplôme De Design / Master's Degree
The Diplôme de design (Master's degree certified by the French Ministry of Higher Education and Research) is based on a five-year curriculum, divided into two cycles:

Undergraduate studies taught in French organized in three years:
1st year dedicated to the basic learning of design and creation.
Open to applicants holding a high school diploma and a French level B2.

From the 2nd year, students choose from 8 specializations organized in 2 years:
 
  • BDes Digital Design
  • UI/UX Design or Game Experience Design
  • BDes Graphic Design
  • Graphism or Motion Design
  • BDes Space Design
  • Interior Design or Scenography
  • BDes Industrial Design
  • Transport Design or Product Design
Open after completion of one year in design and a French level B2.

Postgraduate studies taught in English: MDes International Design strategy
L'École de design offers an international MDes programs specially tailored for students from all over the world who want to integrate our MDes in Nantes: Le Studio France, and 3 others MDes International Design strategy within our International Studios, all organized in two years.

These MDes programs encourage the exploration and acceptance of different cultures within an applied, interdisciplinary context.

Le Studio France
Within this program entirely taught in English in Nantes, students will have to work on projects linked to one of 5 topics, attached to our Design Labs: Care Design, City Design, Food Design, Digital Design or Media Design.
Open to student holding an undergraduate degree in design and a minimum level of 700 points at the TOEIC test or equivalent

Postgraduate studies taught in French
The school also offers MDes programs taught in French in Nantes, and organized in two years with the expertise of our Design Labs :
  • MDes Care Design
  • MDes City Design
  • MDes Digital Design
  • MDes Food Design
  • MDes Media Design
Open to student holding an undergraduate degree in design and a level B2 in French

DN MADE / Bachelor's Level Degree
The school offers a one-year international class to validate the DN MADE, National Diploma in Fine Arts, Crafts and Design, a state recognized undergraduate degree. This program is a 3rd year (which is the last) of Undergraduate level studies taught in English.

Students from all over the world who have completed a minimum of two years in design are eligible to apply, and join one of the three programs offered depending on their previous studies:
  • DN MADE Industrial Product
  • DN MADE Retail & Interior Design
  • DN MADE Digital Media Design

Arts, Design & Media: Preparatory Program
The Arts, Design, and Media preparatory program is specifically tailored for French-speaking international students who wish to pursue their undergraduate studies in a French-speaking program.

This program is divided in two phases: after having completed one semester of intensive French classes, students join in L'École de design Nantes Atlantique for an adaptation to the French design culture and an opening to different design forms.

The selection process is organized as follows:
1. Online application and payment of a non-refundable registration fee of € 50;
2. Uploading all the required documents for application;
3. Application file review;
4. If your application is accepted, an interview will be organized.

Tuition fees
For Non-European students
  • BDes 1st year : € 8,200
  • BDes 2nd year, BDes 3rd year, MDes 1st year,
  • MDes 2nd year : € 9,000 /year
Arts, Design, and Media preparatory program
1st semester >> Courses at University of Nantes: € 1,400
2nd semester >> Courses at L’École de design Nantes Atlantique: € 4,800
